BME traded €44 billion in equities in October, up 3% from September

  • From January-October the effective trading volume totaled €557.4 billion
  • The number of trades to the end of October reached 45.5 million

  • The trading volume in derivatives in October was up 17% on the year
  • The volume of Medium and Long Term issues on the Corporate Debt market in October was up 16% year-on-year and the volume of issues on MARF trebbled

 

Equities  

The trading volume in October came in at €44 billion, up 3% from the previous month and down 44% in relation to the same month a year earlier. The equity trading volume in the first ten months of the year on BME was €557.4 billion, down 32% year on year. 

The number of trades to the end of October reached 45.5 million, down 14% year on year. In October the number of trades reached 4.2 million, up 12% from the previous month and down 19% in relation to the same month a year earlier.

As for the ETF segment, the trading volume in the first ten months of the year totaled €5 billion, down 53% from the same period a year earlier. Trading volume in October reached €294 million, down 66% year-on-year.

The trading volume on the Warrants and Certificates market to the end of October totaled €609 million, of which €54.1 million correspond to the last month, reflecting a 26% decrease in comparison to October of last year.

 

Futures and Options

The trading volume in the Derivatives market in October reached 3.4 million contracts, up 17% from the same month a year earlier.

The trading volume in October reached 238,968 Stock Futures and 2,250,916 Stock Options, representing increases of 37% and 40% respectively year-on-year.

Trading in Index Futures to the end of October is slightly below that registered the previous year while open interest increased 3% year on year to 99,595 contracts.

Activity in Dividend Futures continued growing. To the end of October 274,905 Futures on Stock Dividends were traded and 35,633 Ibex 35 Impacto Dividendo Futures, representing respective increases of 41.1% and 69.5% year-on-year.

 

Fixed Income

The trading volume on the Corporate Debt market of BME in October came in at €14.6 billion, which brings the total trading volume for the first ten months of the year to €147.7 billion.

New issues admitted to trading totaled €7.3 billion in October. The volume of f Medium and Long Term Corporate Debt issues in October was worth of note, at €5.6 billion, up 16% year-on-year. New issues in the first ten months of the year totaled €105.7 billion.

The volume of new admissions in MARF reached €360 million in October (+237%), more than three times as much as that posted in the same month of last year and it totalled €1.8 billion in the first ten months of the year, (167%).

Public Debt trading volume on SENAF, BME’s wholesale electronic trading platform, came in at €14.2 billion in October (+40%). The trading volume in the first ten months of the year totaled €144.2 billion, up 71% year on year.
